Stand Up for Science - a fundraiser featuring Dr. Michael Mann (Hosted by Danielle Mejtiv for County Council)

Sat October 14, 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm

Bethesda | Maryland

A fundraiser to elect climate scientist Danielle Meitiv to the Montgomery County Council featuring renowed climate scientist Dr. Michael Mann.

Dr. Michael E. Mann is Distinguished Professor of Atmospheric Science at Penn State and director of the Penn State Earth System Science Center (ESSC). Dr. Mann has stood up for scientific integrity and the truth about climate change in the face of hostility and attacks from climate deniers from Congress to Big Oil. His most recent book, The Madhouse Effect, features cartoons by Pulitzer Prize-winning political cartoonist Tom Toles. Through satire, “The Madhouse Effect” portrays the intellectual pretzels into which denialists must twist logic to explain away the clear evidence that man-made activity has changed our climate.

Danielle Meitiv is a climate scientist running for County Council At-Large. She's known as the free range mom for standing up for her family when her children were detained by police and child protective services for walking home from the park without an adult. Danielle is building a people-powered movement to bring fresh ideas and energy to the Council and to ensure a healthy and sustainable future for all families in Montgomery County.
